ANADIGICS, Inc. (Nasdaq: ANAD), a leading supplier of wireless and broadband communications solutions, today expanded its CATV subscriber product portfolio with the launch of two new downconverters that incorporate dual synthesizers, and a new reverse path amplifier, for use in CATV set-top boxes and cable modems. The announcement was made from the Company's booth at this year's SCTE Cable-Tech Expo, Philadelphia May 11-14, 2003. ANADIGICS' new ACD2203 provides the downconverter and dual synthesizer functions for a double conversion tuner, including the gain block, local oscillator, and balanced mixer circuits. Requiring a 5V supply voltage, the part utilizes a two wire interface and provides a conversion gain of 10dB, a low 8dB noise figure, and third-order intermodulation distortion products less than -53dBc. Furthermore, the ACD2203 is a lead-free design that enables OEMs to achieve their own lead-free packaging goals. The three-wire interface ACD2204 also provides the downconverter and dual synthesizer functions for a double conversion tuner, including the gain block, local oscillator, and balanced mixer circuits. In addition, an IF Amplifier stage has been integrated into the ACD2204 to provide a total 31dB of gain. The device also delivers a low noise figure of 8dB and third-order intermodulation distortion products less than -53dBc. Both the ACD2203 and ACD2204 are available in 28 pin SSOP plastic surface-mount packages. ANADIGICS' third new offering, the ARA2008, is a reverse path amplifier that incorporates a digitally controlled step attenuator with a range of 0 to 58 dB, adjustable in 1dB increments via a 3 wire serial control. The ARA2008 surpasses the MCNS/DOCSIS requirements for harmonic performance at a +60dBmV output level under 5 Volt operation. The part is delivered in an industry-standard 20 lead SSOP plastic package that is pin-compatible with other reverse path amplifiers. Ron Michels, Vice President of Broadband Products at ANADIGICS, Inc., comments, "As a market leader in RF components for set-top boxes, ANADIGICS continues to develop cost-effective products, enabling set-top box manufacturers to deliver higher performance levels and more features to their customers. Products such as the ACD2203 and ACD2204 downconverters, and the ARA2008 reverse path amplifier, provide increased functionality that enables set-top box manufacturers to adopt tuner-on-board solutions that simplify and accelerate their designs." The ACD2203 and ACD2204 are both priced at $2.25 in quantities of 10,000, while the ARA2008 is priced at $2.50 in quantities of 10,000. Samples of all three new devices are available.
