Anadigics Inc., a leading global provider of wireless and broadband communications solutions, announced the opening of its new application center in Taipei's Neihu Science-based Industrial Park yesterday. The center will support the growing demand for Anadigics' WLAN, CDMA and GSM RF products in Taiwan and the Asia Pacific region.
According to the company, the new facility will provide local application support to the company's OEM and ODM customers by facilitating the RF design process and shortening time-to-market for wireless and broadband products.
"The Taiwan market represents an enormous opportunity as industry trends continue to drive the migration of handset and WLAN terminal design activity in Asia," said Dr Bami Bastani, CEO and president of Anadigics Inc. "Over the last two years Anadigics has built strong relationships with leading Taiwan OEMs and ODMs. This new application center will provide greater depth of support to our existing customers as well as new customers in the region by providing local RF expertise for new platforms that rely on Anadigics leading RF products," Bastani added.
On behalf of Taipei City, Chen-chong Lin, director of Taipei City's Department of Economic Development, welcomed the opening of Anadigics' application center in Taipei. "We welcome the presence of Anadigics to promote mobile phone and wireless support to lower costs and increase effectiveness," Lin added.
The establishment of Anadigics' application center also adds to the NT$8 billion in investment in R&D and related centers in Taipei by companies such as HP, Dell, Microsoft and Intel. According to the Taipei City government, the Neihu Science-based Industrial Park now has over 60,000 employees and generates revenue in excess of NT$70 billion each year.
Anadigics has maintained a relationship with Taiwan businesses since 1985. The company opened its first facility in Taiwan, a design center in Hsinchu, in October 2002. In January 2003 it also opened an Asian distribution center through its partnership with Universal Communications Technology Inc.
"Anadigics has a long history and successful partnership with Taiwan. Our increased presence here will help to improve our success and the success of our customers. So many businesses in Taiwan are innovators and risk takers and we look forward to supporting their growth in the future," said Ken McCauley, vice president of Strategic Sales Development at Anadigics.
The opening of the application center supports Anadigics' strategy to penetrate the GSM handset market through reference designs featuring the company's new portfolio of quad-band GSM power amplifiers, highly integrated PowerPlexer front-end modules and pHEMT RF switch products.
